THEY’RE ON THEIR WAY!

Our Playable Art Park sculptures are gradually arriving in Sandy Springs. Unexpected delays of the Abernathy Greenway/Art Park construction have pushed back our sculptures’ installation several months, so artists are delivering works as they complete them. They will be stored locally until the park opens.

72Our first sculpture is already in place. If you’ve driven along Abernathy Road, you’ve seen the gigantic, 50ft Dragonfly peeking out above the safety fence – waiting for our grand opening sometime next winter. Artists Tanner Coleman and Alexis Gregg built it last summer from more than 7,000 carved and colored bricks. Its webbed wings are stored away until they can be stretched taut for kids to climb on.
73Last week, Kansas City artist, Beth Nybeck delivered “Twist & Shout” – a fantastic three-piece steel playscape. It will be stored until it can be installed in the Art Park.
74Colorado Artist Frank Swanson has completed “It’s You & Me, Kid”, his 18,000 lb granite sculpture, but will deliver it to the Park for direct installation on site.
