Sandy Springs Conservancy has joined forces with REI and nine other organizations across the North Atlanta region in a social media campaign encouraging the public to get outside into our community greenspaces over the next ten months. Hikes For Health challenges people to run, walk or hike on 10 trails, in 10 parks, in 10 months.
REI is the presenting sponsor and the organizations participating in the Challenge with Sandy Springs Conservancy are Blue Heron Nature Preserve, Chastain Park Conservancy, Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy, Chattahoochee Nature Center, Dunwoody Nature Center, Livable Buckhead, Parks Cobb County, Peachtree Creek Greenway, and Friends of Lost Corner. These organizations have been integral in boosting the quality of life in our communities through the development of trails, parks, and greenspaces.
Two Sandy Springs trails are among the ten chosen for Hikes For Health: the Lost Corner Preserve Trail and the Morgan Falls Overlook Bluff Trail, both of which the Conservancy helped to fund.
Now more than ever, Sandy Springs Conservancy and allied organizations see their beloved trails as part of a prescription for a stronger life, and better physical and mental health. Hiking outdoors is proven in studies to promote heart health, weight reduction, and cholesterol control for adults. Physical activity in nature boosts both muscular and brain development, as well as creativity and mental well-being in children.
Take a step towards wellness, and join the Hikes for Health Challenge.
